Interview with Mr. Ruud Kleinendorst CEO of NEDAERO

Mr. Ruud Kleinendorst CEO of NEDAERO, gave an exclusive interview to Epicos, regarding the position of the company in the international and national markets. Among others, he stated that: “The company has more than 40 years experience in components for aircraft. Aircraft component manufacturing started in 1975 with the production of components for F16 program. Thereafter the company became part of Goodrich, and was renamed into Schreiner Components in the nineties. After this period the company became part of Heli-One helicopter maintenance organization. In 2009 the company continued as an independent company, under the leadership of Dutch Aerospace entrepreneur Ruud Kleinendorst, who renamed it into NEDAERO. In 2017 the company expanded by acquisition of Avio Diepen subsidiary ADS&Co.”.

  • Can you please describe the current position of NEDAERO in the national and international markets?

NEDAERO is an independent Dutch company, active in components and parts for Aerospace and Defense Industry. Headoffice and production organization are located at Zevenaar (close to the Dutch/German border) and commercial organization and warehouse are located at Alphen aan den Rijn (nearby Amsterdam Airport Schiphol). In total there are 4 different Business Units:

  1. Manufacturing of electronic aircraft components. This has started in 1975 with manufacturing of Lockheed Martin F16 Fuel Control Units. Since then NEDAERO has added production of Fuel System components and flight deck instruments for NH90 and Tiger helicopters. Furthermore we build various electronic modules (build to print) for testequipment. The latest product comprises a Fiber Optic Gyroscope, for stabilization and navigation purposes. Certified under AS9100.
  2. Repair and Overhaul of aircraft and helicopter components. NEDAERO provides repair management for operators, whereby our focus is at regional aircraft as well as helicopters. NEDAERO is a fully certified EASA/FAA/TCCA Part 145 and AS 9110 workshop and has in-house capability for a variety of electric and fine mechanical components.   3. Parts distribution. NEDAERO represents about 20 different manufacturers of aircraft and helicopter parts. These parts are located in our warehouse nearby Schiphol Airport, from where we can immediately ship to operators all over Europe. Examples of Linecard items are Donaldson filters, Switlik life saving equipment, but also AHG consumables. Certified under AS9120.
  4. Military Aviation. A separate Business Unit focusses at components and parts support for military and governmental customers. Our product portfolio has been aligned with the aircraft types that are operated by our largest customer, Royal Dutch Air Force (F16, NH90, C130, Cougar helicopter).

Airbus Helicopters, Spherea, Meggitt, RNLAF, UTAS, Medavia, Air Greenland.

Production of Fuel system components for F16 and NH90, cockpit displays for NH90 and Tigre helicopters. Electronic assemblies for test equipment for Airbus military platforms. 

  • Would you like to share with us the next steps and priorities of your company?  

Further integration of distribution and repair & overhaul activities, for fixed wing and rotary wing, in the civil and military domain. Simultaneously high priority is given to further development of Fiber Optic Gyro systems. 

  • Is there a specific country or region where NEDAERO would like to expand to in the near future? 

NEDAERO is interested to explore cooperation with a partner company in the USA as well as in South of Europe.
