US Navy Awards Charles River Analytics Additional Funding to Develop Intuitive and Efficient Mission Planning Tools

Charles River Analytics, developer of intelligent systems solutions, announces a new contract to create more effective mission planning tools for Navy pilots. Current mission planning interfaces are difficult to understand and use, so many operators do not harness the full power of advanced planning systems. Under the Intuitive User Interfaces for Task-Tailored Planning (INTUIT) contract, Charles River is creating user interfaces for more intuitive and efficient mission planning. The two-year contract awarded by the US Navy is valued at $750,000.

“We’re excited to continue developing INTUIT under this new contract,” explained Stephanie Kane, Principal Investigator on INTUIT and Senior Scientist at Charles River. “Through our cutting-edge UI design, we’re enabling pilots to take full advantage of mission planning systems by providing clear and predictable interaction methods that can be tailored to specific roles and tasks. We’re addressing the complexities of current mission planning tools while shaping the future of mission planning for naval pilots. We’re also advancing the state of the art for composable user interface methods.”

INTUIT will dramatically increase the usability of planning systems and the efficiency of operators using these planning systems across a range of vehicles, mission contexts, and unique tasks. INTUIT’s card-based UI solution provides pilots with quick access to a wide range of different mission planning tools without navigating complex, deep menu structures. When appropriate, INTUIT will also offer opportunities for incorporating more advanced planning functionality.
