Royal Malaysian Air Force puts its trust in Rohde and Schwarz

Kuala Lumpur/Munich, August 24, 2020 - The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) has been successfully using the company’s airborne radios for almost 23 years, i.e. innovative SOVERON software defined radios (SDR) for tactical and airborne communications scenarios. SOVERON ensures technological independence and digital sovereignty. Its scalable and modular design allow it to be adapted to customer requirements.

The RMAF has been flying Boeing F/A-18D Hornet multi-mission, tactical aircraft since 1997. Boeing has been providing sustainment support for the fleet at the RMAF base in Butterworth, Penang, Malaysia.

These support programs include engineering, logistics support and technical publications. All aircraft have been installed and delivered with Rohde & Schwarz’ airborne radios.

Since then, Rohde & Schwarz technology has become popular with the RMAF, which uses it in its rotary, fixed wing and transport aircraft as well as its ground based air defense radio.

“RMAF has been using Rohde & Schwarz airborne radios for more than 20 years,” says Choon Yu (CY) Lee, Managing Director Rohde & Schwarz Malaysia. “Over the years, we have built up a trusting relationship with RMAF. I am looking forward to continuing our partnership with the RMAF for many years to come.”
