WHAT:
UL, a leading global safety science company, and the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, will host a virtual press conference to share details about the world's first assessment and rating program specifically for smart buildings.

WHO:
David Stehlin, chief executive officer, TIA
Rachna Stegall, vice president and smart building lead, UL
Brian Davis, director, global market development for in-building networks, Corning Optical Communications

WHEN:
11 a.m., Eastern, Tues., Sept. 29

WHERE:
The press conference will be virtual. Attendees must register here in advance to attend.

WHY:
To define investment strategies, planning tactics, design principles and operational procedures, stakeholders across the entire smart building ecosystem need to come together under a measurable, verifiable and repeatable framework of criteria, which accounts for standards and best practices, to meet mutually agreed-upon functional and performance goals for smart buildings. At the same time, there is a growing need for a trusted and comprehensive method to assess and verify building intelligence as well as to continuously benchmark building performance against other buildings. TIA and UL have joined forces to address this critical need for the industry.
