PAENAL is a part of the Single Buoy Moorings Group based in Porto Amboim, Angola. The Company’s current activities include the building and engineering of a fabrication yard.

In 2008, SBM Offshore and the Company’s partner, Sonangol, had a vision to develop a state-of-the-art FPSO fabrication yard in Angola to demonstrate what could be possible in terms of offshore projects in Angola. Five years later and the yard has a capacity to fabricate up to 10,000 tons of modules per year with a fully trained staff of 1,000 persons. The recent installed heavy lift crane ‘Jamba’, is the crown on this sustainable development and has a lifting capacity of 2,500 tons. Jamba, the strongest and biggest crane in Africa is operational at PAENAL.

Another recent milestone to be proud of in the development of PAENAL yard was achieved early in 2014 with the completion of FPSO CLOV, which departed from the yard’s 490 meters quay on the 20th of January. In the second half of 2013, the yard’s Heavy Lift Crane ‘Jamba’ lifted the modules, which were pre-fabricated by PAENAL, on the deck of the FPSO for completion along the quayside. This is first FPSO being named and completed in Africa.

PAENAL is the only yard in Angola with the infrastructure and capacity to facilitate mega FPSO vessels.
